Cocoon & Diva
The Nobel Fine Bone China series is characterized by 2 models produced entirely in their own style ( Cocoon and Diva ), with various items suitable for both models and even interchangeable. The Cocoon model is produced in a tulip-shaped appearance and therefore has its own character within the porcelain range. Model Diva is characterized by its sleek and classic design. The Diva model is therefore a more timeless model.
Bone China
The Nobel Fine Bone China porcelain has a light 'off white' tint, is wafer-thin and the material is very transparent. Bone China porcelain is distinguished from hard and vitreous porcelain by the 45% addition of ground bone ash (Calcium phosphate) in the raw material. This makes Bone China stronger than hard and vitreous porcelain, making it ideal for professional use even in thinner versions.
Bone China is the English name (in Dutch the word ivory porcelain is sometimes used) for extra quality porcelain. The process was invented by Thomas Frye in 1749. The usual raw materials for porcelain earth (the clay), kaolin feldspar and quartz, are mixed with 40% to 50% ground bone ash (calcium phosphate). This creates the strongest porcelain available and gives it a specific ivory (yellowish white) appearance. Bone China is fired at a temperature of approximately 1250°C.
All tableware made of Nobel Fine Bone China porcelain is microwave oven and dishwasher safe.
