Continental China was founded in 1949 by the Rosenthal tableware manufacturer of Germany. Naturally, this brought with it a heritage of quality and craftsmanship. The vision was to create a brand of vitrified hospitality china that would be synonymous with affordable quality and style. Today, Continental China is not only a respected brand in South Africa, but is also widely available in North America, Europe and Africa.
To meet the demands of today’s diverse dining environment, Continental China has created a broader spectrum of design and innovation. Continental China manufactures to British Standard BS4034. Continental China products are manufactured using the finest raw materials, including a high Alumina content, which provides and ensures strength and durability. These vitrified products have a full glass base, are highly durable, scratch resistant and have a 5 year chip warranty.
Continental China and their social responsibility
Continental China has always had a strong sense of social responsibility. In the past, they regularly organized charity events. As the socio-economic needs of the surrounding communities grew, the company received more and more requests to help charities.
In 2002, the Board of Directors decided to make charitable donations count by formalizing the structure. The aim was to contribute to the socio-economic development of the surrounding communities. The company's employees were asked to nominate charitable organizations in their community. The company received contact details for several organizations in Blackheath, Eerste River, Macassar, Mfuleni and Gugulethu.
The first monthly financial donations started in December 2002 and sixteen years later they are proud to say that they are still associated with organizations that make a difference in our community (CENIDA (Center for the Intellectually Disabled), Child Welfare ("Eye-on-the-Child-Project"), Steinthal Children's Home ("Smiling Face Project")
