Ceramist Ann Van Hoey is charmed by the sober tranquility in which Japanese objects are presented. The Japanese folding technique 'origami' and the simple geometric shapes of the enchanting Japanese gardens are also an important source of inspiration. 'Enchanting Geometry' captures the dialogue between different geometric shapes, resulting in elegance and purity. The execution of the plates in superior bone china porcelain Enchanting Geometry by Ann van Hoey - Serax provides a surprising luminosity and contributes to the finesse and refinement of the gastronomic whole.

Designer Ann Van Hoey

Ann Van Hoey is a late bloomer in ceramic art. With her “Étude Géométrique”, a collection of basic shapes, she quickly entered the circuit from 2008 onwards. “Étude Géométrique” grew from the bowl with the 4 corners, the square within the circle, so to speak. Ann Van Hoey got the idea to fold thin sheets of clay when she saw origami artists at work in Japan. The logical next step was the confrontation between the circle and the triangle, and then it was waiting to see what the straight line would do with the circle: geometrically speaking, it became a 'biangle' or two-sided triangle, the eye shape.
