Together with occupational therapists, we investigated which cutlery is the best choice for elderly residents. Design is important. Consider a spoon that isn't too deep to accommodate swallowing difficulties, a fork with short tines to minimize turning movements, and a knife with a serrated edge that cuts well, isn't too heavy, and is comfortable to hold. Cutlery is available in 18/10 and 18/0 finishes. 18/10 is made with 10% nickel for a smoother polish and a more stain-free drying time.
